HUGE update

alright, its been pretty much forever since I touched this blog which is sad.  And honestly the only reason I'm updating it now is because its 6:11 am and I can't sleep and I'm meeting a friend in like an hour and a half for breakfast so there's no point in sleeping.

anyways, life has been pretty hectic....I'm now in 4th term at VFS and trying to juggle school and a social life (which I think I'm managing pretty well for the most part).  We have presentations on friday to show off out demo reel progress....which I think I'm kinda behind in...but its ok I'll be fine don't panic.  Here's a couple images from the stuff I've been doing with the demo:

aaaand there's a bunch more but nothing I really feel the need to show right now...if I find something else worthy of the blog I will upload it laterz.  Right now I'm pretty much focusing on my demo reel, I finished modeling the character obviously, also finished the rigging (rigged and re-rigged like 97 times) and I'm just finishing up the weighting. Already shot some reference footage for most of the animation so I'll be starting to animate either today or tomorrow and will hopefully have some stuff blocked out for the presentation on friday :)

Aside from school....I've been looking into getting a job...probably not the best of plans but hey, there comes a time when its either get a job or live in a cardboard box, and I have to think of what is best for waffles, who has become a cuddling beast. anywho, I'm applying to a few restaurants and bars out here since I figure its the best way to make a good amount of money without having to work insanely. There's one bar I'm hoping to get in at thats opening in January, called ExpBar...basically its a gaming bar...you go and drink and play xbox, pretty much the story of my life so it would kinda be perfect.

Speaking of gaming, for all those interested, I have recently played and would recommend Deus Ex: Human revolution, Gear of war 3, Space Marine (the greatest part of this game is the random "Spaayyyce Mareeeeeens!" that you hear about every 5 minutes...always makes me laugh) Batman Arkham City, Dead Island, Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3 (if you have a playstation obviously) and of course....Skyrim!!! Which is too awesome for words.  Anyone wanting any info or review on any of those hit me up :)

Alright its now 7....I feel like i could probably go shower and get ready for a full day of work now.  Been pretty awesome updating this! I will definitely try to do it more often in the future (I know I've said that before)

so school is getting a little crazier....but I'm managing to stay on top of it all! :)  the guys are struggling more but thats cuz they're inferior.  muaahaha.

Final Bike Model

after a LOOOOONG few days of non-stop modelling on several different models, one being the bike....but at the same time I'm also modelling Toad (mario's toad), an xbox controller, a walkman, a lamp, and a high heel shoe.  And that's just one class.  We've also got a lighting assignment, shading assignment, characters to create, and just finished an essay yesterday and a 2D animation yesterday.  ITS MADNESS!!! haha but I love it. anyways, here's the final bike model! I just threw a quick shader onto it, so don't look at the texturing lol

classes, life and the such

I know its been a while, I'm gonna try to do these more regularly I promise! School has been keeping us pretty busy though...class times tend to start at 9 and end anywhere from 4-10 so its a lot of time spent at school every week :S  

That being said, I'm learning an INSANE amount...there are some things that we were taught in the first week that would have saved days of tedious work in BIT had we known them haha but oh well, there's a lot of assignments but I'm finding that I still have a good amount of downtime compared to IMD, although I expect that will change, we'll see though i guess! In case anyone wants to see a couple of our assignments, here's some screenshots from 2 of them.

In other news, I finally caught up on smallville, so sad that its over! I think they did a good job on the finale tho....now I'm trying to catch up on the 8 million other shows I'm behind in....slowly but surly. ummmm I gave waffles a bath the other day....that was interesting. turns out she doesn't like water! weird huh? haha seriously tho she looked like a drowned rat, there's a picture but Hesham has it on his phone not on mine :(

speaking of phones! rogers screwed me. I'm still getting the Play rest assured, it just wont be until June 17th. some sort of extension of the upgrade eligibility screw up or something, but on Friday June 17th I will be marching into the rogers office down the street and demanding my Xperia Play!

I miss everyone back home a lot! But its been nice reconnecting with a bunch of people out here, anyways, we've got a 3 day weekend coming up obviously, so we're thinking of hitting up Stanley Park and the Giant aquarium that is home to a BELUGA WHALE! yes thats right. a beluga whale. I'll take pictures (if I'm allowed?....naw I'll take pictures either way)

Welcome to Vancouver

HESHAM IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!! haha kidding, so far so good on that front :)

so this is long overdue! its been craaazy busy here....the drive across Canada was amaaazing, minus Manitoba and Saskatchewan, which were pretty awesome for about the first 2 minutes and then nothing changed AT ALL for the next day and a half.  Seriously flat as a table. and just kept going and going and going....and going, like the energizer bunny.  The best part of the drive tho definitely was the rockies from calgary to vancouver. Absolutely stunning! <3

Once we reached Vancouver we had to stay one night in a motel since we got there too late to pick up the keys, but we woke up bright and early the next morning to go get them.  Not gonna lie, my first impression of our place was not good! it seemed a lot smaller than i had thought and the bedrooms are REALLY tiny.  It also didn't really seem like the super had put much effort into cleaning the place after the last renters (who were evicted for not paying their rent....and trust me not the cleanest of residents).  But we got the super up and I pointed out how it wasn't clean, and a few things that weren't working properly and she got the cleaning guy in there and cleaned it right proper  :)  It took a while to get the place furnished, but i made good use of craigslist and we got a lot of stuff pretty cheap.  also made several trips to ikea, wallmart and the brick.  Of course the tv i brought with me was "too small" so we craigslisted a new one....300 bucks for a 52" flat screen LCD! <3  so now our living room is pretty ballin haha

so I think i've gained 80 pounds since we got here, yes i am now super fat. the reason for this is our fridge. stupid thing.  It wasn't working for the first week, so we had to eat fast food pretty much every meal (cheapest) and now I roll everywhere :( Fridge is fixed now tho, although i should mention it smelled like a mixture of chinese food and garbage (arm and hammer took care of that)

We had our orientation on tuesday! met all the guys in our class.....and yes, pretty much all guys, there's like four other girls.  I'm so outnumbered.  I volunteered to organize everyones emails and start a facebook group, so now I know a lot of names! we start class at ten on monday so I'll let you know how that goes later!

also met a girl in the acting program and we went out last night to one of the clubs here....WAY better than ottawa, seriously.  They had a live band that puts ottawa to shame.  soooo good! met a bunch of new friends there too....everyone is really awesome!

Waffles seems to be adjusting great! she acts like she owns the place.  although Ahmad has forbidden her to go in his room, she quite often sits outside his room and waits till he's not paying attention, and then sneaks in while he's not watching.  but when/if he does see her....she freezes and then runs out of the room.   sneaky little ninja cat.

I have already found a great poutine place, dutch place, liquor store, tanning salon, hair salon, CIBC, grocery store, gym (for hesham, not me obviously), potential church, gelato place, and 24 hour mcd's....all within a 5 minute walk! And the shopping here is AMAZING, every store you could ever want including a gucci and burberry store are like a ten minute walk away! I know some ppl back home that would LOVE the shopping here!

The weather has been kinda rainy, but we've had a few really beautiful days too so I cant complain! I probably will eventually tho haha

I miss everyone sooooo much! i wish you would have all moved out here with me! <3 I'll try keep these blog posts a little more regular now that we're all settled down.  also I'll be posting pics of our place (which i actually really like now) on facebook pretty soon!

Back in Ottawa

WHAT AN AMAZING WEEK!!! I saw so many great friends and did so much in just a week! I'm so glad I got to see everyone I did, I'm going to miss all of you so much! I really messed up the day-to-day thing, but whatever....there was too much to record anyways haha

only 4 days left here! I packed most of my clothes today (fyi those vacuum suction bag things are simply miraculous) there's so much I'm throwing out tho holy bajeeezers.  I think I'm going to get a thank-you card from goodwill.  I feel like I have a lot left to pack....but I actually don't.

waffles is nuts.  I feel like she's half mad at me and half just glad I'm home.  she will not leave me alone and goes through cycles of trying to attack me and trying to cuddle up to my face whilst purring like a motor.  wait till she realizes I'm taking her in a 50 hour car ride across the country....ha. SURPRISE!

ok well I'm sleepy, going to lunch with Jess and Hil tomorrow and then picking up packing supply's, dropping off a chair, finishing up all my packing, and going go karting (which i will win at)

Busy week at home!!!

Ok I meant to do a day by day thing here, but failed pretty quickly.   Its so crazy busy here!

Friday:

Got to Ajax around 2 unpacked my car and then headed to Toronto to meet Lisa for dinner and shopping (which was awesome). Then we went back to the hotel and waited (drank) until Andy, Crusty and Messica got there.  We went to a club called Cheval, which I'm pretty sure is french for horse...but whatever, and had a GREAT time! even tho the drinks were obsenely expensive!

Saturday:

hungover. drove home, forgot to give back my hotel key...so I'm mailing that back! then got back in the car and drove to Welland with Mother, Cody and Ali (Cody's girlfriend).  Had a great time visiting with the fam jam over there, and I got an umbrella! (very useful for Vancouver if I do say so myself).  Also very good leafs game that day.

Sunday:

Sang in Church this morning yay! then went to Bowmanville to visit with some of my aunts and cousins over there. Also got to see my cousins little boy! He is SOOOOOO cute!!! I want a kid. in the somewhat near to distant future. After this lovely visit, we went home and I started on some contract work I need to get done and continued testing integration for the virtual Library I made into the virtual environment Carleton has. Getting better.


and now we're all caught up!!! I'll write about today later haha lots to do still!!

First night no bed

so that sucked. i layered my memory foam and some other foam bedding on my floor and made a little bed....thought it was pretty comfy at first! i was wrong.  Tonight I will be experimenting with some other options....perhaps put my sleeping bag under all of that, and layer some blankets underneath too!

I miss my bed :(

only for a few nights though! I go home to Ajax tomorrow (where I get a real bed!) and then tomorrow night the castlegreen girls (plus Crusty) are going out on the town!! *lookout T-dot!

I'm so excited to see Lisi again!! and have one last party night with the old crew :)

also I got my Troy and Abed mug and its everything i ever dreamed it would be and more! I'm drinking everything out of it.

So far so good

So I've managed to sell pretty much everything in my apartment! all I have left is a night table, a couple mirrors and some paintings.   Only problem is that I've sold my bed and they're picking it up this week and then I'm going to have to sleep on the floor *highly dislike* but, alas, c'est la vie.

I still have 5 shifts left at work(s): tonight, monday night, tuesday day and night, and wednesday day and then I'm done! other than the stuff I'm doing for Carleton (i.e. making a 3D model of the library and inserting it into an online environment using software created by Satan)

on the plus side I got a dozen cupcakes today and my cat did this yesterday:

Also my troy and abed mug will be here tomorrow! so excited, I've already planned what my first drink will be.  Hot chocolate with almond cream and maple syrup. I feel like its worthy of the mug.

I BOUGHT A MUG!!!

I just bought this and I'm SO excited for it to arrive....I've recently discovered a new love for this show :) anyone not watching it should watch it. It's hilarious.

Getting ready to go!

So this is the first blog post! Just finished paying tuition (bye bye all my money)...now I'm trying to get rid of all the furniture in my place....so far its going pretty well!

We've got a car now and begun planning our route...although the Uhaul people lied to us when they said our car could tow the trailer no problem.  In reality, the trailer weighs 850 lbs with nothing in it.  Our car can tow 1000 no problem but after that its kinda iffy especially going through the rockies :S  so we've opted to take as much as we can in the car and then ship the rest using Hesham's "connection" at Purolator.

I'm a little concerned for Waffles on this trip but she's a tough cookie I think she'll be ok :) haha

Only one more week left at my jobs! I'm definitely going to miss everyone at the Earl and Robbies tho, its been pretty awesome working there
